The Forgotten Ones

This project was set within a local Residential Care Home. I  offered socially engaged activities on site in weekly activity mornings between October 2017 and March 2018. Encouraging the residents to be creative, either with predesignated items or allowing free reign and then creating display worthy items to instill further confidence and encouragement.

With this project I am exploring the link between social engagement and successful aging and it proved very successful in helping patients suffering with Dementia at varying stages both in memory recall and dexterity but also in motivation and self confidence. This is research into my MA study which unfortunately will take me a little longer to complete than anticipated.

This is looking likely to grow into a much bigger project, to include 4 local homes and consultation services to the homes outside the area. For several reasons this project was postponed but it will be back up and running early August 2018, I am really looking forward to this!
